What is Balayage Hair Colour?

Balayage is a colouring technique which creates a very soft result, with a darker shade near the root area, seamlessly blending into a lighter shade.  This can be anything from dark brown blending into blonde for a natural result or a deep burgundy melting into a vibrant red.

Is Balayage Suitable for ALL Hair Colours?

Yes, but you have to be realistic about the results.  As this is such a gentle technique, a dark hair colour may not lift to a bright ashy blonde.  Especially if there is a build up of old tint on hair.

Are Babylights & Root Stretch the Same as Balayage?

All three of these techniques are very similar and can be explained further during a consultation.  Briefly, babylights is a very fine highlighting technique which still leaves a root shadow. A root stretch is typically done when the hair is already highlighted and the client is wanting to darken down the root area.

How Should I Prepare For My Balayage Hair Colour Appointment?

Bring as many images as you can to show the result you desire, although this may not be able to be achieved in one hair appointment. Also, with this being a technique where the hair is being lightened, the hair has to be in good condition for your stylist to go ahead with the colour service, so be sure to use a good quality conditioning mask to build up the strength of the hair beforehand.

How Long Will It Take To Create a Balayage Look For Me?

During your consultation your stylist will talk you through your hair plan. This may take from as little as 3 hours up to 4-6 hair appointments depending on desired look.

Are There Many ‘Downsides’ To Having Balayage?

Although this is a great colouring technique there are a couple of things to consider, the first is hair condition, as this is a technique which is lightening the oldest and most damaged part of the hair, after care is a must to keep the hair looking its best. The second is when coming away from balayage, either by darkening the ends back down or lightening the root area back up it can be just as big a job as getting the balayage in the first place.

How Much Does It Cost To Have Balayage or Babylights?

This is very difficult to say without seeing the hair and the end result desired. Your stylist will quote you a price during your consultation and will up date you during the hair service if extra colour or products are needed.
